Mali sealed top spot in Group E of the Africa Cup of Nations following their 1-0 victory against Angola, thanks to the only goal of the game scored by Amadou Haidara in the 37th minute of the match.
The RB Leipzig midfielder found the net by firing a stunning 20-yard strike past Tony Cabaca 8 minutes before halftime, which was enough to send his team to the last 16.
Angola tried to find an equalizer when they sent Show and Wilson Eduardo on in the 52nd minute of the game but both players failed to take any of the 3 chances that came their way
They could have taken the lead early in the first half when Mateus fed Gelson Dala in the box, but the striker’s tame shot was comfortably saved by Mali goalkeeper Djigui Diarra.
Angola’s defeat means that they will miss out on a place in the knockout stages after finishing third in the group.
