Let’s take a look at five of the most popular footballers who were fast enough to hit that century-mark milestone

Perhaps the greatest of all time (GOAT), Pele achieved the feat in less than 80 matches. And lo and behold, the Brazilian icon was only 18 years old when he did that! He is considered as the fastest and youngest to score 100 goals.

Pele took Brazil to glory via winning the World Cup three times – in 1958, 1962 and 1970. He was once hailed World Player of the century in 1999.

In a recent interview, Pele, now79, called himself “the greatest football player.’’

Another Brazilian wonder, Neymar reached 100 goals after playing 173 matches. He was 20 years and one month old when he reached that plateau.

Now 28, Neymar plays as forward for French giants Paris Saint Germain and Brazil national team. He is labelled as one of the best players in the world.

Neymar is the third highest goalscorer for Brazil (61 goals in 101 games) after Pele and Ronaldo.

French sensation Mbappe was 20 years and five months old when he scored his 100th goal, playing 180 fixtures to do so.

Mbappe, 21, currently plays for French champions Paris Saint Germain as a well as for the French national squad.

During the 2018 World Cup, he became the youngest French player to score at a World Cup and the second teenager after Pele, to score in a WC Final. France won the World Cup that year and Mbappe was named Best Young Player and French Player of the Year.

Barca talisman Messi was 22 years and three months old when he scored his 100th goal. He did that after seeing action in 214 fixtures.

Messi is now 32 and continues to be the heart and soul of Barca and the Argentine national team. He is one of the best and greatest players of the world.

He has won a record six Ballon d’Or awards and a record six European Golden Shoes.

After playing 298 matches, Ronaldo reached his 100th goal. He was then 22 years and 11 months old. He is one of the best and greatest players in the world.

At present, the 35-year-old Ronaldo plays as forward for Serie A champions Juventus and captains the Portugal national team.
