Senegal are through to the final round for the second time after beating Tunisia 1-0 in the Africa Cup of Nations semifinal in Cairo.
The Lions won the game with a bizarre own goal in the 100th minute after a terrible mistake by Tunisia goalkeeper Mouez Hassen, who tipped Sadio Mane’s freekick which then hit defender Dylan Bronn’s head for the ball to unfortunate bounce back into the Tunisian goal.
Before that, both sides missed penalties within a few minutes in regulation time at the 30 June Stadium. Tunisia was then given another penalty late in extra time but it was dramatically overturned by referee Tessema Weyesa after checking the VAR footage.
With the result, Senegal will now face Algeria in the AFCON finals. The Lions, led by Sadio Mane, has never won the African Cup and has made just one final so far in their history of football.
